"Creating a safe space for children and parents to feel heard, understood and supported"
Hello, I’m Marta, a Certified Play Therapist (Academy of Play and Child Psychotherapy) with a background in Early Years Education, child development and behaviour support.
I have always been passionate about understanding children beyond what we see on the surface. Children do not always have the words to explain their feelings, worries or experiences and often, their emotions and behaviours are their way of communicating what is happening inside.
Through Play Therapy, I provide children with a safe, nurturing and accepting space where they can express themselves in a way that feels natural to them through play, creativity, stories and imagination.
At Playful Connections, I believe that every child is unique and deserves to be understood as a whole person. Rather than focusing only on changing a behaviour, I aim to understand the feelings, experiences and needs behind it.
I follow a child-centred approach, which means that children are welcomed without judgement and supported at their own pace. By building a trusting therapeutic relationship, children can explore emotions, develop self-awareness, strengthen confidence and discover healthier ways of coping with challenges.
My work supports children experiencing a range of emotional, social and behavioural challenges, including:
Big emotions and difficulties with emotional regulation
Anxiety, worries and fears
Confidence and self-esteem challenges
Friendship and social difficulties
Behaviour that feels challenging at home or school
Life changes such as separation, transitions or loss
Difficulties expressing feelings or communicating needs
I also work alongside parents, recognising that supporting a child means supporting the whole family. Through parent consultations and behaviour guidance, I help parents better understand their child's needs, strengthen connection and develop strategies that encourage positive relationships.
The name Playful Connections reflects my belief that play and human connection are at the heart of children's wellbeing. When children feel safe, accepted and understood, they are better able to explore their emotions, build resilience and grow.
My goal is to create a space where children and families feel supported and where emotions can be explored, challenges can be understood, and meaningful connections can be strengthened.
Thank you for taking the time to learn about Playful Connections, I look forward to supporting you and your child on your journey.
My work is guided by compassion, curiosity, and deep respect for each child’s unique journey. I strive to create a space where children and families feel safe to be themselves and understood rather than judged.
If you feel I may be the right person to support your child and family, please do get in touch to explore how we can work together.
